Hans Jørgensen Wegner was a celebrated Danish furniture designer. His high quality and thoughtful work, along with a determined effort from several of his manufacturers, contributed to the international popularity of mid-century Danish design. His approach is often described as “Organic Functionality”, a modernist institution with importance on functionality.
In his lifetime he created over several hundred different chairs, over 100 of which were put into mass production and many of which have become familiar design icons. Hans J. Wegner's famous CH07 Lounge Chair was designed in 1963. Sometimes known as the Shell Chair or Smiling Chair because of its rounded wooden frame, it is renowned for its timeless style and generous comfort. The broad wing-shaped seat provides plenty of support while the sturdy three legs provide an interesting and unusual contrast to traditional chairs.+ Details + Shipping & Delivery
